How to force only 4G or LTE network connection for Samsung Galaxy Note 4

This is how to enable Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to force use only 4G (LTE) network connection for high speed internet data. There is a built-in switch in the smartphone that will enable the smartphone to force use only either 3G (WCDMA) or 2G (GSM) network connection but, there is no switch at all to enable the smartphone to force use only 4G (LTE) network connection.

This is screen video record to show you how to do it. If you prefer screenshots, please skip this video and scroll after the video.

Screenshots Tutorial

If you are clueless about the existing settings that enable you to switch network mode, goto “Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode”.

Steps:

Step 1 : From the phone dialer, dial *#2263# and the smartphone will bring you into the “Service Mode” screen like below.

Step 2 : Select “[4] LTE BAND PART1 []” and the smartphone will bring you into a screen to select the types of LTE mode.

Step 3 : Select “[1] LTE ALL []” to force the smartphone to use only 4G(LTE) connection.

Note : The instructions above have been verified with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910C, Android OS 4.4.4). If you have a tried this method on different smartphone, please leave me a comment whether it works for you or not.

    1. How is it Samsung's fault you bought the wrong phone? I had a Note 2 until recently. It didn't have LTE but some models did. However, I knew the factory unlocked international version didn't have LTE so I didn't blame Samsung.

  30. This code does not work on At&t, or verizon. To get it to work with those carriers you have to call them and ask for your carrier unlock code. They will ask for your IMEI code and then they will issue an unlock code. Once your phone is unlocked you should be able to access this secret menu. To enter the unlock command without inserting an alternate simcard go to your dialer and enter #7465625*638*#

  36. :) Hi Guys,

  37. My Galaxy Note 4 has a issue. When in LTE/WCDMA/GSM mode there is no cellular signal and I am not able to make and receive calls. When I select GSM mode or WCDMA/GSM mode then the phone signal is good and working properly BUT I am only getting the 2G and 3G speeds.

I have done hours of troubleshooting with Samsung Australian support service and also with Amaysim. The sim card is 4G, new and works fine with 4G on my old phone. This issue I am describing occurred with two different sim cards that both function well on other phones.

I have lived in a 4G area for 18 months and have had a fairly consistent 4G service.

I ended up researching and finding some information that I believe may fix the issue.
My theory is that because the phone comes from China, it may not have the settings for 'All GTE' but rather it could be set for other countries.

I want to access service mode to check for the GTE Band settings but the code referred to in the website gives a response 'Invalid MMI code' and Samsung Australian support is not able to assist.

I wondered if it can be accessed through Developer options? I don't know how to do any of that.

  49. For SM-N910S/K/L model, please following these steps.
    1. Open your 'Phone' and switch it to 'Keypad'.
    2. Type '319712358' directly (do not add any prefix or suffix like *#*#, just type it directly...).
    3. Now you can see the Hidden Menu.
    Please enter your password:
    SM-N910S: 996412
    SM-N910K: 774632
    SM-N910L: 0821
    4. After you in, go Network Setting -->Network mode to change LTE/WCDMA/GSM band.
